Dragonas overtakes Ontario; ready to capture Claremont
We played a wonderful concert at the fair in Ontario! Everyone had such a great time and we met a lot of really awesome people.
Mingling with the shire-folk replenished our energies, and we even snapped a photo with some local hobbits. (They would be small. Only children to your eyes). See here.
Special thanks to Annette Widmark for organizing the Fair and for being an all-around amazing lady.
Up next, we are excited to finally enter the studio on Sunday, June 12th and record 4 new songs. (Our last attempt was thwarted, but now all signs are clear!)
And last but not least, we have a concert on Sunday, June 26th at CCSM in the Andre Watts Recital Hall, 4PM.
Please come and bring your friends!
Boston Court Crumbles: Clan triumphs into New Year
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hope you had a great holiday and spent it with those you love.
While we reflect on last year, I just want to say that the Boston Court show rocked!
Special thanks to Keith (drums), Danielle (violin), Charlie (hand percussion), Nico (piano), and Richard (bass) for learning the new music so fast and putting on an amazing show! Your dedication and focus are an inspiration.
Here are 2 pics from the show.
After reflecting on all the fun stuff The Clan did last year, we are now ready to make more memories and reach out to more people in the coming year.
Our directive for the new year:
Well, As Captain Kirk would say, “Switch your phasers from stun to kill.”
…or as we would say, “Grab your two-handed Claymore and prepare for Battle!”
We are prepared for the coming year and hope our music journeys farther than ever, and into the ears of new friends.
New songs and new shows coming your way…
Cheers,
John
Viper Room Bites Back
The Viper Room is supposedly known for having good sound.
I played there a few years ago and absolutely loved the sound on stage, but this time I was unimpressed and disappointed.
We showed up early, ready to do a sound check and put on a great show, but the sound guy seemed asleep at the wheel that night. The Viper Room requires bands to use the provided house drums and backline, because they (theoretically) already have it nicely dialed in for the size and acoustics of the room. This is great for guitarists, bassists, and drummers who normally have to lug around all their heavy gear to every show. During our show we were getting feedback, squeaks, and an overall shite mix on stage, while the sound guy was busy on his computer doing who knows what. I could not hear the violin at all. I was told that it sounded better in the audience, but I really expected a better mix at a well-known Rock club like the Viper.
In music, as in life, you go out and do the best job you can and don’t worry about the rest.
Special thanks to Nick Tangen for pounding on those drums one more time with us. It sounded brilliant!
Nick, you are forever a friend of the Clan.
Also, thank you to our friends Kirk, Arnel, and Richard for hanging out with us after the show. You guys are the reason we do this. We don’t have fans we have FRIENDS!
Check out a few pics from The Viper Room!
p.s. – Stayed tuned for some exciting news coming for December…
Cheers,
John
Dragonas attacked ArtNight, now strikes The Viper Room
Greetings,
ArtNight Pasadena 2010 was a truly special event for us and we want to thank all the people there. The crowds were surprising if not overwhelming, and we appreciated all the warm reception. A huge thanks to Chris Meyers of Beeda and Chad Standlea of Music For Medicine for putting on great shows! Chad was gracious enough to fly in from Arizona the day of the show.
Outdoor concerts at night can be a tricky venture if the weather doesn’t cooperate, but it was an absolutely perfect southern California evening. The gods of rock smiled upon us no doubt.
In other ongoing news, I wanted to let everyone know that Christina, our talented singer, has been busy singing and modeling at events for designers during L.A. Fashion Week. Wow!
Coming up next Monday, Oct. 18th, we are performing at the famous Viper Room in Hollywood at 7:45 pm. We hope to have everyone come out to send our drummer, Nick, off with well wishes. He is parting ways with us to tour South America, and we wish the best for him. It has been amazing what our group has accomplished in such a short amount of time and I deeply appreciate all of Nick’s hard work and dedication to our humble lil’ Clan.
Cheers brother,
John
